During a ceremony held at Burlington House in London on 17 June 2026, as part of the Geological Society of London's annual President's Day celebrations, Silvia Peppoloni received the 2026 Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her outstanding international leadership and her unwavering commitment to advancing and promoting geoethics worldwide.

The Geoethics Medal honors scientists and scholars who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to ethical practices in geoscience research and/or practice, including its interdisciplinary applications. The award emphasizes the importance of responsible and ethical conduct in the geosciences and encourages others to incorporate geoethical principles into their work.

This session aims to explore, through case studies and discussion, how geoethics can shape responsible behaviors and policies in geosciences. We welcome theoretical, methodological, and applied contributions addressing a broad range of topics related to geoethics and social geosciences

n celebration of International Geoethics Day 2025, the Brazilian Society of Geology (SBG - Sociedade Brasileira de Geologia) announced the public release of a lecture given by Silvia Peppoloni during the 51st Brazilian Congress of Geology, held in Belo Horizonte in October 2024. As a guest speaker, Silvia recorded her lecture and authorized its wide dissemination to the geoscientific community.
