IAPG-Peru, together with the Geological Engineering Chapter of the Lima Departmental Council – CIP, is pleased to announce MinerLima 2026: The International Minerals Exhibition of Lima.

The deadline for submitting nominations for the Geoethics Medal 2025 is fast approaching: 31 December 2025. The Geoethics Medal honors scientists and scholars who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to ethical practices in geoscience research and/or practice, including its interdisciplinary applications. The award emphasizes the importance of responsible and ethical conduct in the geosciences and encourages others to incorporate geoethical principles into their work.

This MoA was signed by Nathalie Lemarchand (IGU President) and Silvia Peppoloni (IAPG President).

Vincent Cronin (IAPG Continental Coordinator for North America) will deliver an online invited talk titled "Applied Ethics Resources for Geoscience Students and Professionals" at the III Meeting of the Ethics Committee in Scientific Research, titled "Getting to Know CEINCI", on 21 November 2025.   This event will take place at the Aula Máxima de Ciencias (Auditorium), located on the main campus of Universidad Industrial de Santander in Bucaramanga, Colombia.

The International Association for Promoting Geoethics (IAPG), the Commission on Geoethics of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS-CG), and the Chair on Geoethics of the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences (CIPSH-CG) are co-sponsoring several events on geoethics at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2026 (EGU26)

This conference is a new hybrid event aimed at researchers, industry professionals, students, policy makers, and all those with an interest in responsible innovation. The meeting will explore how artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data are transforming the geosciences, while also addressing the critical ethical, educational, and policy challenges that come with these technologies.

IAPG-Serbia is the 38th national section of the IAPG. ​This section will be coordinated by Miloš Marjanović and Aleksandar Antić.

The IAPG – International Association for Promoting Geoethics is proud to contribute to the 11th International Conference of the African Association of Women in Geosciences (CAAWG11) "Geosciences & the Future of Africa - Emerging technologies, innovations and inclusive growth" that will be held in Kampala, Uganda, from 1 to 5 October 2025.

We celebrate the 9th edition of the International Geoethics Day on 16 October 2025. The theme of this year is "geoethics for a sustainable energy future".

The IAPG – International Association for Promoting Geoethics – is proud to co-sponsor and contribute to two major events this September. These occasions represent important milestones for the geoscience community and provide platforms to address sustainability, ethics, and the future of raw materials and engineering geology.

Geoethics examines the ethics of human and Earth interactions. Topics range from planetary-scale modifications for stopping human-caused climate change through to creating local micropollution for improving livelihoods. All subjects also apply to human interests away from the Earth, including spaceships, space stations, other planets, moons, and stars.

This session will be a discussion of Te Tiriti compliance in geological sampling and recognising data as a Taonga, something to be treated with care and respect.

Andean Geology invites submissions for a forthcoming special issue on geoethics, aimed at fostering critical reflection on the ethical dimensions of the geosciences in Chile and Latin America.

We are pleased to inform you that the first special issue of the Journal of Geoethics and Social Geosciences (JGSG) has also been printed in hard copy, thanks to the support of the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV).

This student-run series will explore themes under the banner of geoethics.

The aim of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) is to establish a coordinated approach, where appropriate, to promote initiatives and events that address the ethical, social, and cultural implications of geosciences, and to uphold high ethical standards in geoscience research and practice, in order to better serve both the geoscience community and society at large.

Prof. Anne (Wagaba) Poelina, University of Notre Dame (Western Australia), has been awarded the Geoethics Medal 2024.
