We would like to inform you about the Session on Geoethics (8 oral presentations) at the 78th Turkish Geological Congress, one of Turkey’s oldest scientific events. The congress will be held in Ankara from 13 to 17 April 2026.

The International Association for Promoting Geoethics (IAPG), the Commission on Geoethics of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS-CG), and the Chair on Geoethics of the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences (CIPSH-CG) are co-sponsoring three events on geoethics at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2026 (EGU26)

We promote abstract submission to the following session: ​​Session 1.3: Landslides and Society: Cultural, Educational, Ethical, Social and Policy Aspects in Sustainable Landslide Risk Reduction.

For geoethics in practice, equity is often highlighted for people and communities. It typically refers to everyone having equivalent opportunities in order to overcome varying starting points. For geoethics covering more-than-human entities on planet Earth, rather than off-Earth geoethics, the meaning(s) of this ethical principle of equity (or equities) are not straightforward. Conundrums are immediately evident.

The Journal of Geoethics and Social Geoscience (JGSG) published the first Issue in 2026

The Journal of Geoethics and Social Geoscience (JGSG) published the first open access article in the Special Issue "Geoethics and Social Geosciences in Africa: Challenges, Practices, and Perspectives".

This report provides an overview of the structure and organizational framework of the International Association for Promoting Geoethics (IAPG), as well as its interactions and collaborations with national and international organizations and projects. It presents the main products developed since the foundation of the IAPG, highlights the principal accomplishments achieved during 2025, and outlines the planned activities and objectives for 2026.
