A conference celebrating International Geoethics Day 2026 in Rome, Italy
The conference, held in Italian and entitled “Geoethics and Responsibility in the Earth Sciences” (Geoetica e Responsabilità nelle Scienze della Terra), will take place at the Conference Hall of the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV; National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology) in Rome, Italy.
The conference will foster an interdisciplinary dialogue among scholars from different disciplinary backgrounds. This event celebrates International Geoethics Day 2026 in Rome and is organized in partnership with the IAPG - International Association for Promoting Geoethics, the Commission on Geoethics of the IUGS - International Union of Geological Sciences, the Geoethics Working Group of the EGU - European Geosciences Union, and the Chair on Geoethics of the CIPSH - International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences. It is promoted by the INGV Publishing Office and supported by INGV Roma2 Section.
The President of INGV, Fabio Florindo, and the Director of the INGV Roma2 Section, Vincenzo Romano, will deliver their institutional greetings at the beginning of the conference, which will be moderated by Paola Montone, Head of INGV Publishing Office. The speakers will be Giuseppe Di Capua (geoscientist), Silvia Peppoloni (geoscientist), Fausto Guzzetti (geoscientist), Mario De Caro (philosopher), Marcello De Paola (philosopher), and Daniele Bailo (engineer).
The event has been accredited by the Order of Geologists of Lazio (Ordine dei Geologi del Lazio - OdGL) for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) purposes.
