This conference is a new hybrid event aimed at researchers, industry professionals, students, policy makers, and all those with an interest in responsible innovation. The meeting will explore how artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data are transforming the geosciences, while also addressing the critical ethical, educational, and policy challenges that come with these technologies.

This report presents recommendations for the ethical application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the geosciences. It has been prepared by the Task Group on AI Ethics in Geosciences under the Commission on Geoethics of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS).

This session will be a discussion of Te Tiriti compliance in geological sampling and recognising data as a Taonga, something to be treated with care and respect.
